I am not going to mention any academic details here because it does not matter.
Common sense and preparation matters.
· So, there is no short cut in the preparation. I spent 2 hours per day for one month before the commencement of placements.
· I have actively participated in the mock written exams, mock GD’s and, mock interviews.
· My target was to get placed by September; the placement process started around mid of August.
· After attempting two companies, I realized that it is not going to work out for me as it was a nasty rat-race still, I have participated to test my preparation, and wherever I felt like I was lacking, I spent time improving in those areas.
· I never got a chance to speak in GD’s because of a few hyper kids and, unfortunately, every single time; I was sitting beside them, and my voice dint reach the panel. But those kind leaders will give a pause to let others speak at some point to show their leadership skills. Just take that chance and shoot all the valid points; it worked for me twice. But I dint performed well at the interview.
· I had intentionally chosen a company; where there will not be any rat race and which has a decent package, also, have a little longer duration between completion of my course and joining.
· By mid-September, I got placed and, I updated my LinkedIn profile and, I have started searching for another job.
· I connected with my seniors both NICMAR/B-tech.
· I shortlisted companies, profiles, and started interacting with the respective people through LinkedIn.
· I asked them where I can fit in their company.
· I sent customized messages according to the company, profile, person, and asked for the vacancies. I have sent messages to around 50+ people, so never lose hope.
· Meanwhile, I asked my friends who have already joined to refer me to their companies and, they did. Attended interviews and cracked both the interviews.
· I have attended a few walk-ins, but the requirement was only for experienced.
· I sent messages to people from lower management levels to upper management levels. I got a few confirmations and, they have scheduled my interviews. Few were online and, a few were in person. The key is to ask for exact designation and work which we can do for them. I cracked all these interviews (preparation+ mock trials in college helped a lot). I almost forgot that I already had a job. So, give your 100% even if you have backup or not.
· I did not share my resume directly because many people don’t check if they do not know what you can do for them, explore the kind of work you can do for them and write only that in the message, use your resume content for interviews
· I got an interview call from JLL HYD after sending the customized message to one of the employees, a telephonic interview and, after two rounds of personal interviews, I got selected.
· After two months of this continuous grind, I had five offers in hand and, according to my parameters, I selected JLL and joined as a project engineer on May-19.
· Research of companies, verticals, where we can fit in that company is the key. Accordingly, we should send a customized message.
And I got many calls even after joining JLL. So, interaction matters.
ALL THE BEST GUYS!!!!!!!
