It is common to have different thoughts running in our minds but what if we think only about few things again and again endlessly and there’s no conclusion at all, and yes we generally call it as OVERTHINKING.
Step — 1 : Write down all the thoughts which are bothering you.
Step — 2 : Write down the intention behind the thoughts.
Step — 3 : Ask yourself and answer the questions like WHY you have that thought. WHAT is making you think about it. WHERE do you see yourself if it thought put into action. HOW important that is to you.
Step — 4 : Write down the PROS and CONS of the thought which you have.
Step — 5 : Ask yourself whether it is under your control or not. IF it’s not under your control, try to process the fact that it is not under your control and accept it. IF YES then think what all can be done to address the thought.
Step — 6 : Conclude the thought with plan of action and put your thoughts into action.
FOR EXAMPLE
STEP — 1 : I’m overthinking about PROCASTINATION. I know I have to do certain things but I postpone, which makes me feel guilty about it later.
STEP — 2 : Not able to perform my daily tasks productively. I start something and I give up.
STEP — 3 : WHY I’m procrastinating — Wasting time on unnecessary things and more screen time. WHAT I want to do exactly during that time — Learn new skills. HOW important that is to me — I can land in my dream job. WHERE do I see myself if I do not procrastinate — I’ll be getting my desired lifestyle and can achieve my financial goals.
STEP — 4 : PROS — Life upgrade. Better lifestyle. Can plan all the trips. Better Savings.
CONS — No change in life. Stagnant in career. No desired package. Have to compromise.
STEP — 5 : I have to control my time and fix a proper learning schedule.
STEP — 6 : I can cutoff my entertainment and dedicate that time to develop my skills and attend interviews to crack my dream job.
Dissect the thought to understand the root-cause and address it to get that thing out of the mind.
Half of your thoughts will be resolved and dissolved just by writing it down 🙂
